Overview


In the recent years, higher administration at King Abdul Aziz University has shown increasing interest in human resources management through its third strategic plan (Taiziz) for the period from 1436 to 1441 AH. In manifestation of such interest, the fourth strategic objective of the plan is titled “Enhancing and developing skills and leadership capabilities of academic and administrative leadership in accordance with contemporary scientific and methodological frameworks and innovative thought of problem solving”.
“Development of leadership and productivity” is set as a specific goal among other goals specified in the university plan. This interest stems from the importance of academic and administrative human component at the university to achieve the competitive advantage sought by the university to become among the top 100 universities in the world by 1441 AH.
Hence, Vice Presidency for Business and Knowledge Creativity took initiative to offer a program called "professional practitioner", which is the first of its kind in Saudi universities. The program identifies aspects of development required in the academic and administrative performance of the human element to meet the needs of the university for achieving its long-term goals and vision. The program further extends to include needs of the labor market for community institutions. "Professional Practitioner" program differs from other specialized human resources training programs in the element of actual practice of en site problem solving instead of concentrating on theoretical knowledge.



Sector’s Goals


  • Build, strengthen and promote culture of Professional Practitioner program in the community institutions and impact of the program on increasing productivity of institutions.
  • Conduct studies and research in human resources based on the foundations and concepts of the "Professional Practitioner" program.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with local, regional, and international institutions to provide support and to contribute to the development of work systems through preparing professional practitioners for these institutions.
  • Develop innovative thinking skills for workers in community institutions.
  • Integration of educational process and theory with the realities of practical life.
  • Design themes, skills and behaviors of the "Professional Practitioner" program according to the needs of the labor market.
  • Conduct training courses and workshops with a distinct methodology to prepare professional practitioners with the advanced internationally recognized methods.
  • Provide consultations in the fields of human resource development in a professional manner with unique outputs.
  • Establish an integrated system for preparing professional practitioners based on standards and follow-up assessment of their performance in coordination with authorities concerned with requirements of the labor market.
  • Conduct research and studies with concerned authorities.
  • Communicate and build bridges of cooperation with local, regional and international institutions, including educational institutions, and competent institutions of government and private sectors.
  • Contribute to diversifying sources of income for the university.
